Foodies rejoice! Here’s our weekly selection of the latest menu updates, dining and tasting events from chefs and restaurants across the Philadelphia region.

THE BAKER’S JAR ANNOUNCES FALL THEMED DESSERTS

unnamed-2The Baker’s Jar in Philadelphia (625 South St.) offers a different take on the typical bakery, serving its treats in their very own mason jars. The bakery recently announced its fall offerings in a press release, which includes two new desserts for the season. Their Apple Crumb Cake dessert is locally sourced from 3 Springs Farm and features homemade caramel sauce, cinnamon, nutmeg and is baked with a crumb topping. They are also offering a Pumpkin Cake that is lightly spiced and topped with whipped cream frosting. Finally, the bakery will have Holiday Pies available and customers can choose from Pecan Bourbon Pie or the traditional Apple Pie.

PHILADELPHIA MAGAZINE WHISKEY & FINE SPIRITS FESTIVAL

The annual Philadelphia Magazine Whiskey & Fine Spirits Festival is returning on Thursday, Oct. 27, according to a press release from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. The event will be held at Garces Events, 801 Market St., with the VIP tasting being held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and the Grand Tasting following from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. According to the press release, the event will feature more than 200 premium distilled spirits including whiskey, scotch, vodka, tequila, gin, rum, cordials and handcrafted cocktails.

PHILLY POURS AT THE FRETZ SHOWROOM

Hamilton Russell Vineyards owner Anthony Hamilton Russell is returning to the area on Friday, Oct. 28, to host Philly Pours at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, according to a press release. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and showcases the wine of the vineyard. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample five of the estate’s celebrated wines, including extremely rare vintages largely unavailable in the United States with a specially designed menu.

BEERFEST AT TROLLEY CAR DINER

The Trolley Car Dine & Deli (7619 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia) will be hosting a BEERFest on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 2 to 5 p.m. The $5 unlimited tasting will include craft beer and beverages from the following providers: Troegs, Victory, Yards, Weyerbacher, Wyndbridge, Starr Hill, Lancaster Brewing Company, Lexington Brewing Company and Origilio Beverage. The event will also have food specials including Chicken Schnitzel, Hotdogs, Brats, Pretzels, Horseradish Potato Salad and Grilled Ham and Cheese. To register for the event, click here.
