Facetime Theatre’s summer stage program will perform “Bye Bye Birdie” August 11 through August 13 in the Lenfest Theatre at Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA.
Bye Bye Birdie is a musical satire that tells the story of a rock-and-roll singer, Conrad Birdie, who is about to be inducted into the army. It is decided that Birdie will give “one last kiss” to a lucky teenage girl on the Ed Sullivan Show, and hilarity ensues. The show includes such musical theatre classics as “Put on a Happy Face,” “One Boy,” “A Lot of Livin’ to Do,” and “Kids.”
Facetime Theatre’s summer stage shows are performed by students and interns from 4th grade through college after three weeks of focused instruction from teachers experienced in theater arts and education. They perform the full-length version of the musical complete with sets, costumes, orchestra and choreography to sold-out crowds in the Lenfest Theatre, a state-of-the-art, 380-seat venue.
Performances of Bye Bye Birdie will be August 11 and 12 at 7 p.m. and August 13 at 2 p.m. For more information and tickets go to www.facetimetheatre.org.
