BEER CALENDAR: Get ready to ‘Paint A Growler’ and much more

July 8 – 10: Evil Genius Brew Garden, Evil Genius Brewery, Fishtown Philadelphia
To celebrate the opening of its new brewery in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia, Evil Genius Brewing Co., in conjunction with Home Brewed Events, will be holding a “pop-up” beer garden. On Friday from 8 to 10 p.m., there will be live music; Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. there will be food trucks and lessons on home brewing; Saturday evening, 8 to10 p.m., there will be a screening of American Pie 2 in the beer garden; Sunday noon to 5 p.m., enjoy food trucks and games like giant Jenga and corn holes.

July 10: Pottstown Bike Race and Sly Fox Beer Garden
Sly Fox Brewing Co. will be serving its summer beers at the Pottstown Criterium in the beer garden. From noon to 8 p.m., enjoy watching the race at High and Penn streets with a cold Sly Fox beer in hand.

July 12: Iron Hill, Media, “Golden Goat IPL”
Iron Hill Brewery in Media collaborated with the Tyler Arboretum to create “Golden Goat India Pale Lager.” Described as a “part IPA, part lager,” it “bursts with tropical fruit, pine and citrus hop flavors balanced by a crisp, clean lager finish.” It will be released to the public at 4 p.m. on draft at the Media location; $1 from each pint sold will be donated to the Tyler Arboretum. July 12: “Paint A Growler, Drink A Beer” at Fegley’s Bethlehem Brew Works
From 6to 8 p.m., create your own personalized growler using high quality glass paint — including glow in the dark paint! Each attendee will receive a brown growler to paint guided by artist Leslie Gerhart. Tickets ($45) are available online — follow the link from the Fegleys website.

July 21: Normandy Farm Craft & ‘Que Series: Clam Bake with Flying Fish Brewery, Normandy Farm, Whitpain
Normandy Farm, a high-tech hospitality venue for events of all kinds and home to The Farmer’s Daughter restaurant, begins it’s “Craft & ‘Que” series with an all-you-can-eat (and drink) Clam Bake, including lobster corn chowder, steamed clams and mussels, oysters and chilled shrimp, and an “elaborate dessert display.” Unlimited Flying Fish beer and house wine will be served during the event. Tickets (VIP seating at 5:30 p.m., $54.95; General admission 6 p.m., $49.95) are on sale online.

Oct. 22: Pottstown Beer Festival, Manatawny Park, Pottstown
The Pottstown Brew Fest returns for its second year with a celebration of craft beer. More than 150+ beers and ciders from 65+ of the best craft brewers from the Mid-Atlantic and across the United States are expected to be on hand. A VIP Session ($75) offers an extra hour (noon to 1 p.m.) and an opportunity to taste some rare and highly desirable beers that will not be poured during the general session; General Session (1 to 4:30 p.m.) tickets ($45).
