If you grew up in the ‘90s, there’s a decent chance you spent your afternoons glued to the Nickelodeon game show, Legends of the Hidden Temple. Prepare to flash back to your childhood as the Penn Museum presents Legends of the Hidden Temple: Penn Museum Edition—a P.M. @ Penn Museum event Wednesday, April 20 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Tickets are $20 ($15 for Penn Museum members) and includes one complimentary drink for guests 21+.

In the classic kid’s television show, teams of young competitors faced off in mental and physical challenges based in part on global history. In Legends: Penn Museum Edition, staff from the Penn Museum as well as five other Philadelphia-area museums await attendees at stations throughout the galleries and grounds—testing guests with a variety of challenges, from knowledge competitions to scavenger hunts and more.

Shortly after arriving to Legends: Penn Museum Edition, players are assigned into familiar, colorful teams like the Blue Barracudas and the Orange Iguanas, before departing into the Penn Museum’s galleries to embark on an adventurous series of activities. Along the way, they’ll meet with staff from the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, the American Philosophical Society Museum, Eastern State Penitentiary, the Mütter Museum of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, and the Wagner Free Institute of Science—all on hand to test competitors’ physical and mental acumen.

Attendees gain points for their teams by completing challenges during an action-packed, 30-minute window of competition. But danger lurks in certain corners of the Museum—where “temple guards” from various cultures wait to capture players on their route, demanding correct answers to history questions before allowing competitors to continue their quest.

Throughout the evening, guests can replenish their energy with drinks and light bites from a cash bar. The event also includes admission to the Penn Museum’s world-exclusive special exhibition, The Golden Age of King Midas, at no additional charge. Guests must be 18 years old to attend and 21 to drink.
