Here’s a sampling of events, venues surely to get you into the Halloween spirit:

Elmwood Park Zoo: Boo at the Zoo runs noon to 3 p.m. weekends Oct. 10-31 at the zoo, 1661 Harding Blvd., Norristown. Enjoy live entertainment, costume contests, costume parades, trick-or-treat stations and more. Harvest Fest is included with zoo admission of $14.95, $10.95 for seniors and children 3-12, $12.95 for students. Thirteen Haunts: Get information on some of the top haunted attractions in Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey all in one place at www.13haunts.com. Among the haunts — Terror Behind the Walls, Shocktoberfest, Bates Motel and Haunted Hayride, Field of Screams, Pennhurst Asylum, Horrorfest at Shady Brook Farm,  Sleepy Hollow Hayride, Night of Terror, Frightland, Fright Factory and The Valley of Fear.

Six Flags Great Adventure: Fright Fest offers 22 Halloween-themed attractions, including three new haunts and five new shows. The seven-week festival features family-friendly Thrills by Day and a zombie-filled Fright by Night weekends through Nov. 1 Great Adventure is off Route 537, Jackson, N.J. Terror trails and haunted houses require an additional fee. Dorney Park: Halloween Haunt opens for the season Sept. 25, with mazes, rides, scares zones and shows 6 p.m. to midnight Fridays, 11 a.m. to midnight Saturdays (haunted attractions open at 7) and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Oct. 11 (haunted attractions open at 7). The amusement park is at 3830 Dorney Park Road, South Whitehall.  Check www.dorneypark.com/haunt.

For little ones

Sesam Place: The Count’s Halloween Spooktacular features shows, maze, rides, Neighborhood Street Party , Halloween Parade and much more. The event run Sept. 26 through Nov. 1.
