With 30 artists on three stages in a single weekend, the XPoNential Music Festival has — as a song by one of the performers, Dawes, goes — a little bit of everything.
Philadelphia public radio station WXPN has again assembled a lineup from its diverse playlist, along with a variety of family-friendly activities. This is the 11th year the music festival has been held on the Camden, N.J. waterfront, near Riverside Drive and Harbour Boulevard, in Wiggins Park and the Susquehanna Bank Center.
Here’s the artist breakdown by day:
Friday July 24
Wiggins Park: Dawes, The Word (featuring Robert Randolph, John Medeski and the North Missisippi Allstars), JD McPherson, Lost Bayou Ramblers, Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear, Milton, Cole Redding.
Saturday July 25
Susquehanna Bank Center: My Morning Jacket, St. Vincent (Scheduled start time is 7 p.m.).
Wiggins Park: Delta Rae, Lord Huron, First Aid Kit, Calexico, Hop Along, Gina Chavez, Fly Golden Eagle, Son Little, Field Report, Vita and the Woolf.
Sunday July 26
Susquehanna Bank Center: Grace Potter, George Ezra, The Wailers (Scheduled start time is 5 p.m.).
Wiggins Park: Indigo Girls, Courtney Barnett, The Lone Bellow, Buckwheat Zydeco, Pine Barons, Kopecky, Bombino, Israel Nash, Cheerleader.
The ticketing is convoluted, so read this next part carefully.
One of the offerings at the festival’s website, www.xpnfest.org, is the “3-Day Go Everywhere Pass,” which includes access to the lawn area for the Susquehanna Bank Center performances. Those are $150, or $75 for XPN members. To get that member/renewing member discount, you can make a $25-a-month pledge, which gets you a pair of 3-day Go Everywhere Passes, as well as free non-alcoholic beverages and artist meet-and-greets at Wiggins Park during the XPoNential Music Festival. You can also pledge $6 or $12 a month to get a promo code (which XPN members should have received in their email by now) to purchase half-price tickets. Pledges can be made by calling (800) 565-WXPN or visiting www.xpn.org.
There’s also the “1-Day Wiggins & Garden Pass” for $60, $30 for members. Note that it doesn’t include access to the Susquehanna Bank Center.
You can also get reserved seating and lawn seats for the shows at Susquehanna Bank Center. They start at $25 (plus fees) and are available at the SBC box office, the Live Nation Box Office in Bala Cynwyd, www.ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster outlets or by phone at (800) 745-3000. Remember that when you purchase tickets to just the SBC show it does not include access to the Wiggins Park portion of the XPoNential Music Festival.
If you were planning to bring the kids, there is a “1-Day Kids Pass” for $5 per ticket, good for any one of the three days of the festival. If you plan to bring your child all three days, you have to purchase three 1-Day Kids Passes. Children who have a 1-Day Kids Pass will get access to the SBC show when accompanied by an adult 3-Day Go Everywhere Passholder.
