Friday July 10 will be the debut of Philly Brew Tours, the latest addition to a nationwide series of beer education and craft brewery tasting tours.  Joining successful tours in Boston, Washington DC, Burlington, Vt. and New Hampshire’s sea coast, PBT has partnered with some of the region’s top craft breweries to create All-Inclusive Itineraries (that means no waiting in lines; no entrance fees, VIP tours and closed-to-the-public visits) featuring private tastings at each brewery, plus food pairings from beer-focused restaurants, round-trip transportation from brewery to brewery and a dedicated beer guide to teach participants about the brewing process and Philadelphia’s proud brewing history. Each tour lasts approximately five hours and costs $85 per person; and departs from 1211 Arch St., Philadelphia, adjacent to the Reading Terminal Market.

  • PBT works with some of the best-known craft breweries and distilleries in the region, inviting guests in for guided tastings of 15 different beers, along with in-depth analysis about the brewing process and how to identify popular styles, such as saisons, stouts, IPAs, pilsners, porters, etc.
  • All tours, led by a home brewer and local beer expert, will include an inside look and guided tour of at least three breweries, including beer tastings with pours ranging from 3-16 ounces.
  • Tour guides will highlight Philadelphia’s rich brewing history while pointing out historical landmarks along the way and how they relate to beer, all from the comfort of an air-conditioned van.
  • Featured breweries and distilleries will include:
    • Yards Brewing Company (901 N. Delaware Ave., Philadelphia)
    • Flying Fish Brewing Company (900 Kennedy Blvd., Somerdale, N.J.)
    • 2nd Story Brewing (117 Chestnut St., Philadelphia)
    • Dock Street Brewing (701 S. 50th St., Philadelphia)
    • Saint Benjamin Brewing Company (1710 N. Fifth St., Philadelphia)
    • Lunacy Brewing Company (214 Davis Road, Magnolia, N.J.)
    • Cooper River Distillers (34 N. Fourth St., Camden, N.J.)
    • Earth Bread + Brewery (7136 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia)
    • Philadelphia Brewing Company (2440 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia)
  • Each tour provides either a full lunch or dinner at one of Philadelphia’s most-talked-about and beer-focused restaurants. Guests can expect the beer education to continue over a meal, with a discussion on intricacies of pairing craft beer with food, and an exploration into flavor profiles.
  • Participating bars and restaurants will include:
    • 2nd Story Brewing
    • Brauhaus Schmitz (718 South St., Philadelphia)
    • City Tap House University City (3925 Walnut St., Philadelphia)
  • At this time, PBT offers three distinct tour experiences:
    • The Original Philadelphia Brew Tour, a behind-the-scenes into local breweries that is beginner-friendly, but also informative enough for beer connoisseurs. Tour includes lunch and beer pairings, as well as guided tastings of at least 15 different beers. Cost is $85 per person, plus gratuity; non-drinking tickets available for $60 per person.
    • The After-Hours Brew Tour, a beer-focused evening that visits both old-school breweries and newer nano-breweries for the ultimate cutting-edge brewing experience. Tour includes dinner and beer pairings, as well as guided tastings of at least 15 different beers. Cost is $85 per person, plus gratuity; non-drinking tickets available for $60 per person.
    • Private Tours, for a more exclusive experience. Call 215-866-2337 or email Philly@brewtours.us; PBT is available for birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and company outings.
