PHILADELPHIA (May 20, 2015) – WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A (Adult Album Alternative) music and noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, today announced that Michaela Majoun, award-winning host of the XPN Morning Show since 1989, will make her departure from the station on June 30th in order to pursue her writing career.
Majoun has presented music and features, including the Women’s Music Hour and arts and cultural coverage, for the past 25 years, and has served as an interviewer and alternate host for the station’s national show, World Cafe, since it began.
Majoun studied screenwriting in Los Angeles and worked on the television show Designing Women prior to moving to Philadelphia. She is currently writing a screenplay to submit for a fellowship and developing a television series based on the work of a New Orleans historian.
“When I came to Philadelphia I had a screenwriting agent and was planning to return to L. A. after establishing myself on radio in this major market,” said Majoun. “But I got so involved in the evolution of WXPN and the arts and cultural scene in Philadelphia that I forgot to leave! It’s been a great run at XPN but now I’m ready to focus on writing.”
Majoun resides in Philadelphia where she plans to remain while working on her writing projects.
