Internationally-renowned recording artist and actor Snoop Dogg will make his first appearance at Musikfest when he headlines the festival’s Sands Steel Stage Aug. 15, 8 p.m. Tickets for the concert are $39-$49 and go on sale starting May 5, 10 a.m., to ArtsQuest Members and May 8, 10 a.m., to the public at www.musikfest.org and 610-332-3378.
Since his platinum-selling debut recording, “Doggystyle,” in 1993, Snoop Dogg has become an international superstar, producing No. 1 hits, selling more than 35 million albums around the globe and starring in dozens of television shows and motion pictures. Just a few of his hits include “Drop It Like It’s Hot (featuring Pharrell Williams),” “What’s My Name,” Gin and Juice” and “Doggy Dog World.” He has also made guest appearances on hits by several other artists including Akron’s “I Want to Love You,” The Pussycat Dolls’ “Buttons” and Katy Perry’s chart topper “California Gurls.”
Among Snoop Dogg’s numerous big and small screen appearances are motion pictures such as “Starsky & Hutch,” “Training Day,” “Bones” and “Scary Movie 5,” as well as television shows like “King of the Hill,” “Big Time Rush,” “The Bernie Mac Show,” “Weeds” and “One Life to Live.” From 2007-09, he starred in his own reality show, ”Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood.” In March Snoop Dogg presented a Keynote Conversation at SXSW, joining other distinguished artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Dave Grohl and Lady Gaga in presenting at the festival. In May, he will release “Bush,” his 13th studio album, produced by Pharrell Williams.
The Snoop Dogg concert is supported by media partner B104. Musikfest, one of the largest music festivals in the nation, is set for Aug. 7-16 in Bethlehem, Pa., with more than 500 performances taking place on 14 stages over 10 days.
