REVIEW WRITTEN BY MARGIE ROYAL

Bed and Breakfast owner Joseph ‘Chool’ Crawshaw (and first-time author) decided to pen down memorable incidents from the past 17 years that he and his wife have spent as innkeepers of Frogtown Acres. Their B&B is located in the heart of Pennsylvania Amish country in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Their neighbors are Amish, as you can guess from the paperback’s title, “Amish Scrambled Eggs With Humor.”
Crawshaw’s humor is quirky and he likes to joke and play tricks on his guests — and his readers, too, as all of the chapters are labeled “12.” I hope that doesn’t mean the B&B is in bankruptcy!
Chapters range from recounting interactions with his Amish neighbors (such as attending a funeral for a stillborn baby) to revelations about the guests (prim ladies to visitors from all corners of the world).
While his book can be seen as a good marketing tool for his B&B, Crawshaw said his intention was to give a more accurate portrayal of the Amish people.

The chapters are short and several black and white photos of the B&B accompany the 86-page softpaperback. The book is available at  www.amazon.com (Kindle $8.99; softcover $14.39); but if you want to experience Crawshaw’s storytelling first-hand, plan at trip to Frogtown Acres; visit tripadvisor.com-frogtownacres.
