The Friends of CHOP will host the Cheers for CHOP fundraiser, featuring cocktails, auction, live auction and dancing. More than 1,000 people will attend. Guests will enjoy a special performance by Salt-N-Pepa, the chart-topping hip-hop group. 2014 was the inaugural year for the event and featured a surprise performance by Rob Base.
The event is set for 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28 at Valley Forge Casino, 1160 First Ave., King of Prussia. Performance and presentation is from 8 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets to the event are $150 each and can be purchased at www.cheersforchop.org
The 2015 event will benefit CHOP’s Child Life, Education and Creative Arts Therapy program—one of the first programs in the country to recognize the therapeutic value of play for hospitalized children. The Child Life program is dedicated to helping children of all ages and their families cope with illness, injury, treatment and the overall healthcare experience. It is the most comprehensive program of its kind in the nation, with more than 50 activities to meet the unique needs of children and families.
In its inaugural year, the Friends of CHOP raised more than $420,000 for CHOP’s Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment, and the Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care, which will be the most state-of-the-art outpatient facility in the nation when it opens in later this year.
