STORY WRITTEN BY MICHAEL CHRISTOPHER/For Digital First Media
Following weeks of missed deadlines and growing fan discontent across social media, the Firefly Music Festival finally announced today its lineup for the four-day destination musical event that will take place June 18-21 at The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway in Delaware.
The Killers, Kings of Leon, Morrissey, Snoop Dogg, Bastille, Hozier, Empire of the Sun and Cage the Elephant are just a few of the names filling out the headline slots. Curiously, and a bit dramatically, there is a slot for the top headliner but it is blurred out. There had been a confirmed contractual hang-up with one of the performers, and while Red Frog Events haven’t said who said performer is, they did say that the third headliner would be “revealed at a later date.”
This will be the fourth year of Firefly, and it’s grown rapidly in popularity and attendance. 2015 will be the second that spans over four days after the first two were limited to three. The expansion is in no small part due to Red Frog Events partnering up with AEG acquisition and Coachella Music and Arts Festival organizers Goldenvoice. It’s allowed the fest to go after even bigger artists than before which had this year the most anticipated yet as the joint venture was announced last September.
Firefly has a wide range of artists filling out the bill, including EDM stars Steve Aoki and Zedd, indie rockers Manchester Orchestra and Cold War Kids, guitar standout Gary Clark Jr., upcoming acts like Broncho, Panama Wedding and Dover’s very own hip-hop outfit, Cypher Clique.
The on-sale dates for tickets will be announced shortly.
