STORY WRITTN BY MICHAEL CHRISTOPHER/For 21st Century Media

For his third time at the Wells Fargo Center and fourth in Philadelphia in just over a year and a half, Justin Timberlake is just about finished with The 20/20 Experience World Tour, with just three cities left on the docket following Wednesday night’s show. This is his third performance at the arena since last fall, having played there last November, and again a few months later in February. He also performed live with Jay Z at Citizens Bank Park last August as part of the Legends of the Summer co-headlining tour with Jay-Z.

It’s been quite the triumphant return to the music industry after a seven-year hiatus, promoting his third and fourth studio albums, The 20/20 Experience and The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2 – both of which came out last year – with a whirlwind tour that has hit five continents in front of millions of fans. Having released his second studio album FutureSex/LoveSounds back in 2006, Timberlake doubled his solo album output with the release of two studio albums in one year.

The 20/20 Experience went on to become biggest selling album of 2013, with its first week of release seeing all 10 tracks charting on the digital songs chart and have sold over 5.2 million tracks. The album has reached platinum status in three other countries as well as gold status in nine countries. The success has been due in no small part to the hit singles spanning the two releases, including “Take Back the Night,” “Suit & Tie” and “Mirrors.”

This will likely be the last chance to see Timberlake in a live setting for quite some time. Despite the flop of his last starring role, alongside Ben Affleck in last year’s “Runner, Runner,” he remains a much sought after actor in Hollywood. His next effort in Tinsel Town won’t stray too far from his musical roots though; he’ll be playing Casablanca Records founder Neil Bogart in next year’s Spike Lee directed “Spinning Gold” about the music executive who is also credited with signing Joan Jett, Kiss and Donna Summers.
