The 41st Annual Peddler’s Village Apple Festival set for Nov. 1 and 2

LAHASKA — Celebrate apple season at the Peddler’s Village 41st Annual Apple Festival on Saturday, November 1, and Sunday, November 2, 2014, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Rain or shine. Admission and parking are free.

Peddler’s Village has been celebrating fall’s favorite fruit in Bucks County, PA, on the first weekend of November for more than four decades. The festival promises a fun-filled experience offering two full days of delicious food, fall family activities, distinctive artisan displays and live entertainment.   • Booths offering farm fresh, local apples and apples prepared every way possible line the winding brick pathways of the Village. Sample fresh picked apples and local apple treats from Bechdolt’s Orchard of Bucks County and take home your favorites.
  • Dig into a scrumptious selection of all things apples in Peddler’sVillage restaurants and vendor booths such as pies overflowing with the luscious fruit, crisp apple fritters and apple dumplings to savory apple entrees, apple crepes, apple cakes, apple turnovers and homemade candy and caramel apples.
  • Sip a warm cup of Solebury Orchards apple cider and explore the mysteries of apples from seed to cider from the local orchard’s dynamic storyteller, Becca, on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
  • Sample Bauman’s Pennsylvania Dutch apple and pumpkin butters and seasonal jams from Bucks County Preserves while you watch authentic demonstrations of cider production in an antique cider press and old-fashioned apple butter cooking in a huge cauldron.
  • Between indulging in delicious apple treats, visitors may enjoy the all day live musical entertainment and the kids can get creative with children’s crafts.
  • The Artisan Area on the Street Road Green is a must stop to browse unique handcrafted works from more than 60 of the region’s finest, including a variety of folk art and decorative home wares, jewelry, pottery, clothing and leather creations, artisanal honeys, hand turned wooden bowls and pens, hand blown and fused glass, handcrafted iron and birdhouses. Watch artisans demonstrate their crafts from flame-worked glass jewelry and hickory maple syrup to leather work, handmade glass beads and personalized children’s artwork.
  • Each afternoon, guests gather to cheer on the brave contestants in the traditional pie eating contests. The Apple Pie Eating Contest, held at 3 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, provides lots of laughs and prizes for winners.  Competitions are held in these age categories — 10 and under, 11-14 and 15 and up.  Contestants are chosen by lottery and must sign up from 10 a.m.-2:45 p.m. at the Hospitality Booth on the Main Green.

Rendition

Rendition is a jazz ensemble made up of seasoned musicians from Bucks andMontgomery counties.  Expect big band-era jazz classics originally composed by the greats and brought to life.

Lolly & YoYo, the Bank of America Green

10:30am-12:30pm

Lolly & YoYo inspire children to play, exercise and be healthy with their high-energy interactive shows and music!  Their songs and fitness activities engage children’s imaginations while they dance, jump, hop, run and play! 

Jim Haner, “The Banjo Man”, Roaming

12:00pm-4:00pm

A charismatic strolling wizard of the strings who is sure to entertain! 

Tony Alosi, Courtyard

12:30pm-2:30pm

This singer/songwriter plays his mix of blues, Funk, R & B, soul and smooth jazz.

The Takeaways, the Gazebo

12:30pm-3:00pm

The Takeaways are four children of the 60s- Bruce, Joe, Jim & Paul- who play a wide variety of the British Invasion and American music of that era. Their repertoire will have you dancing, singing along and, generally, having a good time.

Bucks County Gymnastics and Dance School, Cock ‘n Bull Green

The local girls of Bucks County Gymnastics School of Dance will be performing a wide variety of jazz, contemporary ballet and hip hop dance.

Solebury Orchards- All About Apples, between JaZams and Eldreth Pottery

1:30pm-2:30pm

Through photographs and dynamic storytelling by Becca, the whole family will explore the mysteries of apples from seed to cider.  Every participant will leave with their own apple to enjoy!

 

Pie-Eating Contest, The Main Green Balcony

Sign up at the Hospitality Booth on the Main Green during the festival for this fun-filled contest!  Six contestants in three age categories will be chosen in a random drawing.

Toby Mochel

3:00pm – 5:00pm, Courtyard

Toby Mochel has been playing music in the Bucks County area for the past fifteen years. Formerly a founding member of the classic rock group, The Ones, Toby embarked on a solo act, playing a mix of songs from the 50’s to the 80’s, plus his own original compositions.  He is joined by guitarist Scotty B, who also plays harmonica and provides supporting vocals.

Giant Flying Turtles, The Main Green

3:30pm-6:00pm

High-energy roots music (rock, blues, Americana and jazz). With two singers, their unique-sounding harmonies compliment their gutsy instrumental adventures.

Mary Roth is an eclectic singer/songwriter who performs a wide variety of world music as well as familiar songs. She provides an interactive performance with Vocals, Dulcimer, Celtic Bodhran Drum, Bouzouki and or Guitar etc.
