KENNETT SQUARE — Colorful fountains and glittering fireworks will be on display Saturday, Aug. 16 at Longwood Gardens. In addition, the music of the supergroup ABBA to be celebrated.
The fireworks show begins at 9:15 p.m. and limited tickets remain. Admission is $38 for ages 16 and over; $31 for members; $22 for ages 15 and under; and $18 for members 15 and under.
The musical tribute, Abbacadabra: The Magic of ABBA, invokes the disco era with “Dancing Queen”, “Knowing Me, Knowing You”, and “Take a Chance on Me”, then moves into the present with a high-energy rendition of “The Visitors” and a quieter “Name of the Game.” Then, “Waterloo” serves as the finale.
Guests may reserve a space in the viewing area after 3 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring a lightweight folding chair. Rental chairs can be purchased for $5 each (while supplies last). Blankets will not be permitted.
Other programs coming up include Rachmaninoff Power and Passion on Aug. 30. This program spotlights the famed Russian composer’s Second Symphony.
And then on Sept. 13, its “Ladies & Gentlemen … The Beatles.” The show opens with “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,” followed by the lyrical “Penny Lane” and the driving anthem, “Help.” The melodic “Here Comes the Sun” melds into the title song of the 1964 album, “A Hard Day’s Night” followed by “We Can Work It Out.”
